2021

Whether it’s a simple beam of light shining through a patch of leaves that catches my eye or the soothing sound of water meandering through rocks that fill my ears, I wait patiently for inspiration to strike. It might happen on a quick walk with our dog or along a fully immersed retreat back into nature. When it does take over, I’m able to escape from all the commotion around us. There’s nothing quite like that disconnect, it’s my motivation to relive that feeling and capture it in the process of my paintings.

This year, I took a different direction investing in a plein air easel and some oil paints to begin a new adventure with on location painting during our camping trips and outdoor markets. It's been a fun transition away from acrylic paint in my studio to paint outside and dive into the longer "play time" with oils. Learning to love them both and finding a balance between teaching and painting. Always learning!

2020

I’ve always been drawn to the serenity of nature. There’s just something about being tucked away within an uninhabited environment far from all the hustle and bustle of society, especially during these strange times.

Whether it’s a simple beam of light shining through a patch of leaves or the soothing sound of water meandering through rocks in a stream, I wait patiently for inspiration to strike. We are all provided with the most spectacular scenery, and for me, there’s nothing better than reliving these outdoor adventures through the process of my paintings.

This is my escape from reality that motivates me to keep traveling. It feels like I’ve only scratched the surface, but that only means there’s plenty more out there to explore.

2019

Nature has a way of providing the “perfect” composition that I am in search for on my outdoor adventures. Once I find it, I want to capture that glimpse of perfection and make it imperfect with many layers of color. This is my take on the landscape from hikes and camping trips this summer. They are my escape that motivates me to get out there and explore, then relive these journeys through my paintings.

2017-2018

Wind & Water

I have become fascinated with the combination of wind and water erosion that nature has left behind for us to observe. The remaining evidence from those two factors demonstrates an impressive display of the sheer strength needed to sculpt solid rock into the most remarkable formations. I have found myself most fond of the red rocks here out West.
