Acrylic Painting 101
Acrylic is a great way to kickstart your painting journey. Learn how to push paint around and handle this forgiving medium with its fast drying and easy layering properties. Students will focus on key elements such as shape, value and color to cover the basics of applying paint to canvas. There will be plenty of exercises to practice a variety of techniques to help you build confidence with your painting skills. Recommended for ages 16 and up.

Acrylic Landscapes
​Interested in learning how to paint scenery? Perhaps you’re not sure where to start or looking for an opportunity to continue your creative exploration. This class introduces helpful ways to make the process of painting landscapes more approachable. From mountain peaks to seascapes, develop skills to break down each step and piece together a cohesive composition. 

Meet Your Instructor
Ben’s encouraging style of teaching provides a welcoming atmosphere to enjoy a creative outlet. He’s all about bringing people together and having a good time while getting to know his students’ goals. He will push you out of your comfort zone and do whatever he can to make you a better painter. His love for the outdoors brought him and his wife to Colorado Springs in 2016, which led him to begin teaching landscape painting classes here at Cottonwood shortly after. A big fan of music, there’s always some good tunes playing in class to set the tone for a productive paint session. His loose painting style involves bold color balanced with dramatic brushstrokes that captures emotion and creates a sense of movement in his scenes.
